5/2/2024 0 Comments Open office writer word wrap![]() When you're face to face, a smile or just the eyes can tell the others that you're saying something just enormous, but it's a joke. Myself, I've faced several times misunderstanding with humor in forums (even in my native language). And I did remove it because even if the vast majority would have detected a joke, some may not have appreciated. Then your text has been reported by a user. Personally I've replied your message without removing your text first. We have discussed the case among moderators and Volunteers and decided to reintegrate it in the thread.īut let me explain why your first excerpt has been removed. Gtb, perhaps you've noticed that your last post had been removed too. This post was mostly just because we thought it was funny, not because we were whining about it. Despite the ridiculousness of this design decision we like the majority of the program features. ![]() Gtb wrote:No, we're going to stick with open office. It seems that moderators agreed on my initial thougths, but found other measures more appropriate. On this background (joke not funny, potentially offensive content, and not contributing to the purpose of this site) I reported your post to moderators, suggesting that they lock the thread (so it would sink in the "recently answered" priority order) without major edits. (Post the full procedure - or rite - on a blog or something and send me a link. I'm sure you authors had a lot of fun writing it. The quote in your posting looked like an excerpt from a joke (or perhaps a "joke draft"), and didn't come out as terribly funny (I had to make up the buildup to the punchline myself, which deflates the joke a bit). In other settings, things might be different. Although I have the stomach to take it, it was not something I took pleasure in reading, and I suspect neither would my kids (nor my parents, for that matter). Thus, a considerable number of readers may find the content offensive. The joke contained references to mutilation (of beast and self), bloodshed, and summoning of a pagan deity. Neither is expressly forbidden in this forum. It could also easily be construed as a hostile statement. Most (perhaps all) readers probably saw that it was a joke. I'd feel very guilty if someone didn't understand that it was a joke and accidentally summoned The Thing of Many Screams while trying to fix their word-wrap issues Still, i'm glad Hagar saved us from embarrassing ourselves in front of countless eights of open-office forum readers 2nd degree humor pretends to be something mundane, but is actually a joke underneath. There's like 7 names on there listed under the heading "Rabble-Rouser"Ī little research seems to indicate that 1st degree humor is obvious or up front about the joke. I wonder if that guy has a little post-it list next to his bible with your user-name on it. I assume that 1st degree humor gets you sent to the "hoosegow."īut 2nd degree humor just gets your posts censored. 2nd degree humor? is that like we weren't good at it? like really good would have been 1st degree? "Humor isn't well understood in forums.". That is awesome - i've never been censored before. Oh my crap! what forum can we go to to post the results of this experiment? The remainder of this thread is not relevant to the solution. And since my friend and I are both aspiring writers with abnormal senses of humor, we started expanding on the steps required:Įdit: Moderator's note: The solution to this problem is emphasised above, as this topic, for reasons unexplained, comes top of Google searches. Well, as you all undoubtedly know, it is true, somehow. I have to add an additional element to my page, set up the properties of the element so it fits where my frame used to, THEN set word wrap? "This cannot possibly be correct," my brain kept insisting. You have to insert a frame, insert your table into the frame, and then set up the frame properties to wrap. ![]() It's probably just buried somewhere in layout or something.Īfter several google searches, and a growing sense of disbelief, we came to the discovery that open office doesn't actually support wrapping text around a table. Just because I can't find the text wrap property in the table properties doesn't mean anything. "Easily done," I thought to myself, I was doing that shit on windows 3.11 back in the day. A friend and I are collaborating on a project and we needed to do some text wrapping around a table.
